- Don't raise your arm over your head in a painful range of motion unless you absolutely have to.


Elevating your arm over 90 degrees compresses the rotator cuff and as a result this often makes the symptoms worse. Any aching associated with movement is an unpleasant event and you must reduce or stop it.
